MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s cross country team opens the 2023 season ranked No. 18 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Coaches’ Poll, announced Wednesday.
UW is one of four teams from the Big Ten Conference represented in the preseason rankings as the Badgers are joined by Ohio State(16), Michigan State (17), and Michigan (25).
The Badgers are set to host several of the top teams in the country at the 2023 Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented by Under Armour, including the top-three teams in the country in NC State (1), Northern Arizona (2) and Oklahoma State (3).
UW returns four of its five scorers from last year’s Big Ten Championship, including Shea Ruhly and Samantha Stieve, who earned second-team all-conference honors last season.
The Badgers open their campaign on Saturday, Sept. 9, with the Badger Classic at the Zimmer Championship Course. Racing is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
