We are pleased to welcome two new members of staff to the scottishathletics team.

Stephanie McLean joins the development team as our National Community Impact Manager. This new role is a key part of our commitment to widen access to athletics and running across Scotland, to improve diversity in the sport, and contribute towards health and wellbeing nationally.

Head of Development David Fallon said: “It’s great to have Stephanie on board, starting this important work to reduce the underrepresentation of some communities within our sport. She’ll be focussing particularly on creating opportunities for people who live in poverty, people with a disability, and those from ethnically and culturally diverse communities.

“Stephanie joins us from SAMH where she managed multiple national projects, and she previously held a programme manager role with Scottish Sports Futures, a Glasgow-based charity that uses sport and physical activity to engage with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. With her previous experience and skillset, I’m really looking forward to seeing the impact Stephanie will bring to the role.

“There’s lots to be done, and it’s important work, so it’s great to get started.”

Alan Erickson joins us as Performance Administrator, helping to coordinate the organisation of Scottish representative opportunities across all disciplines – as well as the administration and management of scottishathletics kit requirements. Additionally, the role involves responsibility around the other key areas such as eligibility and anti-doping, ultimately supporting the general work of the performance team across a range of projects and activities.

Head of Performance Mark Pollard said: “The Performance Administrator is a central role within scottishathletics, coming into contact with everyone who is fortunate enough to earn the opportunity to represent Scotland.

“Beyond that, they are crucial to the ongoing tasks and projects undertaken by the performance team and will provide vital assistance for the rest of the team to help us to achieve our targets and outcomes. We’re pleased to have someone of Alan’s calibre on board, and I’m sure his skillset from the health & safety industry – as well as his enthusiasm for the role – will stand him in good stead for the challenges involved.”
