Cross Country Teams Race Amid Cold Conditions at Pac-12 Championships

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — The Sun Devil men’s and women’s cross country teams battled the chill of winter-like temperatures at the 2023 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships held at Chambers Creek Regional Park on Friday.

In the men’s 8k, a quartet of younger Sun Devils led with way with sophomores Tyler Schierenberg (60th) Johnathan Estrada (62nd) and Kristian Kimberlin (72nd) and freshman Ethan Bukowski (74th) all finishing in the Top 75. As a team, the Sun Devil men placed ninth.

On the women’s side, the inverse was true as three of ASU’s top performers were members of the junior or senior class: senior Sadie Heeringa (59th), junior Claire Le Gallo (83rd), sophomore Mia Chavez (90th) and senior Gracie Carr (96th). The Sun Devil women concluded the race 12th in the team standings.

Stanford took home the team title for the men, while the host school Washington led the way on the women’s side.
