All roads lead to Manchester this weekend for Scotland’s top track and field athletes.
The Microplus UK Champs and Olympic Trials promises one of the most exciting weekends of the summer.
There is coverage across BBC platforms and we will be updating on our channels, too, hopefully with news of Scottish success in the Manchester Regional Arena.
The UK Champs have been a happy hunting ground in recent years and we make it more than 30 medals achieved over the last three editions of the event.
Gold medals have been prominent among the regular trips to the podium with five champions crowned back in 2022 (Laura Muir 1500m, Jake Wightman 1500, Jemma Reekie 800m, Nick Percy discus, Steven Bryce Para 1500).
We fully exepcte competition this year will be intense with places at the Olympics in Paris up for grabs – and the number of British athletes with qualifying standards in certain events underlines that level of competition.
However, the Scottish cohort numbers around 60 and we’re certain every single one will have their own ambitions to post PB or SB, reach a final or challenge for coveted UK Championship medals.

Here are a couple of highlights to look our for . . .
*Nick Percy is bidding for his sixth British title and a place at his first Olympics
*Laura Muir will attempt to land the 10th British title (indoors and outdoors) of her storied career
*In the Men’s long jump there is a strong Scottish presence with three athletes currently ranked int he top ten in the UK
Para athletes will be chasing medals, too, like Steven Bryce in the ambulant 1500m and Samantha Kinghorn and Melanie Woods in the Wheelchair 400m.
That only tells part of the story and the entry lists confirm a very large and strong Scottish cohort are making plans for Manchester.
