CHICAGO – Led by three-time Big Ten cross country champion Bob Liking, the No. 18 Wisconsin men’s cross country team won the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Friday morning.
Liking finished seventh in his season debut, finishing the 8K course in 22 minutes, 59.02 seconds, to lead Wisconsin to its third team title of the season.
The four other Badger scorers – Johnny Livingstone, Liam Newhart, and Micah Wilson – all finished within a second of each other, crossing the line in 14th (23:29.31), 15th (23:29.85), 16th (23:29.88) and 17th (23:39.93), respectively.

“That was a fun meet. We always enjoy competing in Chicago. Racing along the Lake Michigan shoreline with the city skyline in the background is special. The guys did an excellent job executing the race plan without turning the screws too much. They were selfless in the execution and that’s what we’ll need later on. We know what’s coming down the road and we’re preparing for that. I’m excited about today’s performance since we’re coming off a huge training block with tired legs. On we go!”
