Pitt Primed to Compete in 50th Paul Short Run

PITTSBURGH – Bethlehem, Pennsylvania marks Pitt cross country’s next destination as Lehigh’s Goodman Campus Cross Country Course will host the 50^th Paul Short Run this Saturday. This will be the Panthers’ third consecutive meet in the Keystone State.

The Panthers will have representation in four races. The men competing in the 8K Open will begin at 9:30 a.m. The women’s 6K Open will follow at 10:15 a.m. Shortly after, the men’s 8K Gold goes off at 11 a.m. The women competing in the 6K Gold will have their go at 11:45 a.m. The Gold races will feature over 40 teams from across the country. For spectators, admission is free. Parking is available in the Stabler lots for $10 per vehicle.

SPIKED SHOE STRIDES

At the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational in September, the women’s team took fifth place led by Winnie Incorvaia in 10^th place and Sadie Carey-Tharp in 19^th. The men’s squad finished one place back in sixth, led by Luke Simpson, who crossed the line in 14^th and Sam Otis who was close behind in 16^th. Succeeding the Spiked Shoe, the women ranked 4^th in the USTFCCCA Week One Mid-Atlantic Regional poll, which is tied for their best ranking in program history. As of Week Two, the women sit in seventh and the men in sixth in the poll.

Following Saturday’s meet in Bethlehem, the Panthers will make their first trip out of state for a tough test at Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 19.
