No. 6 Women of Utah Claim Bill Dellinger Invitational Crown

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The No. 6 Utah cross country team returned to the Bill Dellinger Invitational for the first time since 2021 and once again laid claim to the team title on Friday at Pine Ridge Golf Club behind five runners in the top-10.

The Women of Utah started out strong and never left each other’s side as evident by the quintet of finishers in the top-10 to secure the victory with just 25 points.

Erin Vringer and McKaylie Caesar ran side-by-side for the Utes throughout the race before Vringer took lead to finish second-overall with another PR run – this time checking in at 19:49.8. Caesar would cross the finish line shortly thereafter for third-overall at 19:58.0. Utah product Morgan Jensen wasn’t too far back to give the Utes their third finisher in the top-5 with a mark of 20:06.2 for fifth-overall.

Sophomore Katarzyna Nowakowska was .02 behind Jensen to take sixth-overall (20:06.9) before Anna Peters crossed the finish line as Utah’s fifth scorer for ninth-overall (20:16.6).

Lindsey Peters posted a top-15 time for Utah after she clocked in at 20:30.9 for 15th-place while Grace Moroney closed out the top-25 with a PR run of 20:40.7 for 24th. Freshman Marika Couture barely missed out on a top-25 finish when she crossed at 20:48.8 for 28th with a new personal best while teammate Emily Chaston checked in at 31st (20:52.2).

Sona Kourilova also registered a new personal best on Friday, finishing with a time of 20:56.9 for 34th. Kylie Hartnett made her way through the crowd after the 3k mark and passed 33 other runners by the time she finished with a time of 21:10.1 (47th).

Running in her home state for the first time since joining the college ranks, Lauren Ayers posted a new PR time of 21:15.9 with Bri Rinn (22:33.3) closing things out for Utah.

Utah will now return home and get a few weeks to recoup before gearing up for its first Big 12 Championships on Friday, Nov. 1, in Waco, Texas, at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. Utah will also host its annual meet, this year named the Utah Scenic West Open, on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Sugar House Park. The women are set to take off at 1 p.m. (MT) while the men are slated to start at 1:45 p.m.
