Illinois Cross Country Closes Out Regular Season in Wisconsin


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men’s and women’s cross country teams are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 19) for Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wis. at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. This marks the third time the Orange and Blue will be competing in Madison this season with previous trips including the Badger Classic and Nuttycombe Invite.

The Fighting Illini men’s and women’s teams will be competing in the “B” races with the women’s 6k starting at 12:40 p.m. followed by the men’s 8k at 1:20 p.m. CT.

The last time the Illini were in action was on Sept. 27 at the Nuttycombe Invite where the men placed 22nd out of 24 teams with 562 points and the women placed 23rd out of 25 teams with 602 points. Individually, junior Alex Partlow led the way for the Illinois men in the 8k with a 63rd-place finish at 24:22.4 followed by graduate student Joshua Daggett and junior Will Merrick with 24:44.0 and 24:47.0 times, respectively. In the women’s 6k, sophomore Avril Andre had the Illini’s best finish of the day in 45th place with a time of 20:55.1, while senior Halle Hill followed in 75th place with a 21:14.0 finish.
