Three Blue Devils Post Top-25 Placements at Panorama Farms Invite


EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Freshman Caroline Hood, sophomore Hattie Reynolds and graduate student Jack Stanley headlined a solid day of racing for the Duke cross country team as the trio parlayed strong performances into top-25 finishes in their respective races.

Reynolds paced the threesome with a 15th-place finish, clocking 21:06.2. Hood’s 6K time of 21:23.3 checked in at No. 20 on the leaderboard, with Stanley rounding out the group with a run of 23:53.6 – good for 21st on the 8K course. Overall, the Duke men placed fifth in the team standings with 165 points while the Blue Devil women (220 points) took eighth.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • With Stanley notching the top finish for the Duke men, graduate student Duncan Miller (31st) was the next Blue Devil runner to cross the finish line, turning in an 8K time of 24:05.1.
  • Freshman Luke Thompson (43rd) and senior Beck Wittstadt (52nd) followed with times of 24:17.8 and 24:21.9, respectively, with sophomore Alden Keller rounding out the group with a 54th-place finish of 24:23.5.
  • Following Hood and Reynold’s showings, Grace Geyer took 67th with the rookie clocking 22:26.2 on the 6K course.
  • Sophomore Lindsay Hausman and graduate student Abby Paczewski‘s showings capped the top-five finishers on the women’s side for Duke. Paczewski and Hausman finished in succession of each other, placing 77th and 78th, respectively via finishes of 22:40.3 and 22:42.4.

UP NEXT:
The Blue Devils commence postseason action starting with the ACC Championships. The conference meet is slated for Saturday, Nov. 1 at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
