MADISON, Wisc. – The Washington State Cross Country team raced in the NCAA Pre-Nationals Saturday morning. In the Women’s “B” 6k race, the Cougars finished first overall as a team, with freshman Zenah Cheptoo being the team’s top finisher. Cheptoo finished second with a time of 20:11.7. Alaina Stone Boggs finished in 7th with a time of 20:38.9. Caroline Jepkorir finished 13th with a personal best time of 20:51.9.
In the men’s 8k “B” race, the Cougars finished in fifth place with a total of 190 points. Evans Kurui finished in second place with a time of 23:38.2. This time would have put him in 63rd in the A race earlier this morning. Brian Barsaiya took one of the top 10 spots, finishing 7th with a time of 24:07.5. Leif Swanson snuck into the top 30 with a time of 24:29.4, finishing 29th.
The Cougs next meet will be in Stockton, California for the West Coast Conference Championships, on November 2nd.
