This Day in Track & Field-February 7, Paavo Nurmi, Dutch Warmerdam, Joni Huntley, by Walt Murphy’s News and Results Service

The 2024 Cross Country season is here!

It is time for the long run!

Remember, 560,000 boys and girls in high school are running cross country this fall.

We are big proponents of long runs and hills.

For many, especially, early in careers, long runs, hill work, fartlek and tempo runs give an athlete in cross country all that they need in the fall!

Wednesday, Week 5, Day  7,  October 20, 2024

Warm-up well,

75-90 minute long run,

Cooldown well, and remember to hydrate.

Check your shoes and make sure that your training shoes

are ready for 12-18 more weeks of training. (Most shoes make it 12-16 weeks of training)

If not, go to a local running store and find one or two pairs of good training shoes.

We will speak about that soon!
