Cross Country Opens Post-Season Slate at SEC Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Florida Gators Men’s and Women’s Cross Country are set to compete in the first race of the 2024 postseason, taking on the the SEC Championships hosted by Texas A&M at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course in College Station, Texas.
 
The Gator women look to repeat as champions after their victory at the conference championships in 2023. The women’s team has twice won back-to-back titles, in 1996 – 1997 and 2009 – 2010.
 
Friday morning’s events will be broadcasted live on SEC Network. The women’s race will begin at 10:08 a.m. ET, and the men’s race will begin at 10:50 a.m. ET.

On the women’s side, Hilda Olemomoi leads the Gators’ hopes for a repeat. The junior finished second at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals meet on Oct. 19, and is projected to be among the top finishers in College Station. The 2022 SEC Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Year finished sixth at the SEC Championship in 2022 and fourth in 2023. The Gators will also race Allison Wilson and Liina Winborn, two redshirt seniors who were the fifth and sixth Gators to cross the line at last year’s SEC Championship.
 
The men look to continue their upward trajectory after a seventh-place team finish last season. They return three runners from last season’s conference championships performance, including their top scorer, Ethan Geiger.
