CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Fifteen Atlantic Coast Conference teams are scheduled to compete in the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships next Saturday, November 23, at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Verona, Wisconsin. The ACC will be represented by eight women’s programs and seven men’s teams.
The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be televised on ESPNU and the ESPN App beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Six ACC teams – three women’s and three men’s – were named as at-large selections to the NCAA Championship field following strong showings at the regional meets on Friday, November 15, and in the regular season. Seven other teams – five women’s and four men’s – earned automatic spots in the NCAA Championships by placing first or second in their respective regionals during Friday’s competition.
Seven individuals from ACC programs also earned individual bids to the NCAA Championships following outstanding efforts in the regional meets. Clemson led the way with four individual bids, including three women. The Tigers will be represented by Gladys Chepngetich, Brett Gardner, Silvia Jelego and Judy Kosgei. Also representing ACC schools will be NC State’s Sawyer Dagan, Georgia Tech’s Katie Jortberg, and Louisville’s Geoffrey Kirwa.
Six ACC men’s cross country teams are ranked in the most recent USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, including No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 7 Stanford, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 13 Virginia, No. 17 Syracuse and No. 19 Notre Dame. The USTFCCCA also ranks eight ACC women’s cross country teams in its most recent poll, including No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 12 Stanford, No. 13 North Carolina, No. 15 Virginia, No. 17 NC State, No. 24 Florida State, No. 25 Boston College and No. 28 Syracuse. The ACC leads all conferences in both polls.
