Bunnage Earns Region’s Top Honor – Stanford Cardinal

Stanford sophomore Amy Bunnage was named West Region Women’s Athlete of the Year for cross country by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday.
Bunnage placed fourth at the NCAA Championships on Saturday while leading Stanford to sixth as a team. She was timed in 19:31.1 for 6 kilometers (3.73 miles), a Stanford record on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Verona, Wisconsin.
Bunnage was Stanford’s highest NCAA women’s placer since Aisling Cuffe was fourth in 2013.
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Bunnage made her season debut at the NCAA West Region Championships in Colfax, Washington, on November 15 and won that race. At NCAAs, she also topped all other West Region runners.
Her NCAA performance earned Bunnage her first All-America honor.
