CHICAGO – The Wisconsin women’s track and field program kicked off the 2024-25 indoor season with three first-place showings at the Chicago State Invite on Friday night, hosted at Gately Stadium.
Emma Kelley was one of the standouts for the event, making her Badger debut in Chicago to kick off the indoor season. The Washington University of St. Louis transfer turned in a pair of individual wins in both the 300 and 600-meter competitions.
Kelley PR’d in the 600-meter race, completing her race in 1 minute, 30.28 seconds—beating the next runner by over five seconds. She followed it up by turning in a 39.83-second 300-meter run, good for first place as well.
The distance unit showed out for Wisconsin in the 3000-meter race, as they swept the top-5 spots. They were led by Zaira Malloy-Salgado with a 3K time of 9:51.88. Myra Stray, Liv Phillips, Annika Elliott and Eva Kuehn rounded out the top-5 in that respective order.
Emma Kruse earned a runner-up finish in the mile competition, sprinting a 5:07.52. Stacy Kipkoskei enjoyed a quality performance in her first race of the season in the 60-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 9.54 seconds to earn bronze.
The 4×400 relay rounded out the top showings from Wisconsin on Friday night, as the team of Kelley, Sydney Robinson, Kiley Robbins and Karina Janik finished in second place with a time of 4:01.87.
