ANNAPOLIS, MD – Five Terps won events and three records were set as the Maryland women’s track and field team opened its indoor season on Saturday at the Navy Invitational held in the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
Armanie Coleman set a new program record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.69 seconds which also set a new Brown Field House record. Chioma Njoku won the weight throw (20.66m) which was also a new facility standard.

Samantha Payne won the 500 meters (1:13.57) which stands as the fourth-fastest mark in Maryland history.
Simone Cooper won the shot put in her first collegiate meet with a toss of 13.30 meters, whie Katerina Talanova won the 1,000 meters in 2 minutes, 56.45 seconds.

Other notable performances included Kami Joi Hickson taking second in the 1,000 meters (2:58.07), Reese Delp earning second in the 800 meters (2:16.03), Emmi Simon placing second in the 3,000 meters (9:59.10), Isabella Castillo finishing third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91 sec), and Nyla Cherry picking up a personal-best mark of 5.67 meters in the long jump to place third.

The Terps will return to action after the turn of the New Year competing in the Nittany Lion Challenge on Jan. 18 at Penn State.
