ANTALYA, Turkey – Former Utah All-American Poppy Tank helped Team Great Britain & Northern Ireland grab silver in the 30th edition of the SPAR European Cross Country Championships on Sunday at Dokuma Park.
No stranger to the big stage, Tank worked her way through the sea of competitors throughout the race to help her country take silver. The Plymouth, England, product weaved her way past 16 other runners in the final roughly 3713m of the race to finish 26th-overall with a time of 26.57 and was GB & NI’s fifth finisher on the day.
Tank has now been a part of one gold medal team and two silver medalist teams while representing her country, having won gold in 2023 and silver in 2021 and 2024. Team Great Britain & Northern Ireland has dominated the European Cross Country Championships as a whole on the women’s side, ironically winning gold in the senior women’s race in odd years since 2015 and have placed second on even years during that stretch.
In addition to Tank racing, the Women of Utah also had recent signee Emily Junginger (GER) compete in the U20 race for Germany. The Aichtal, Germany, native finished 54th-overall with a time of 17:36 in the 4812m race as Germany’s third and final scorer while it placed 10th as a team.
