The marathon runner represented Great Britain over 26.2 miles at last summer’s Paris Olympics
Phil Sesemann will embark on a new chapter in his life after signing with ASICS.
The British marathon runner, who was previously with Adidas, boasts a personal best of 2:08:04 and represented Team GB over 26.2 miles at last summer’s Paris Olympics.
Sesemann is currently ranked fifth on the UK marathon all-time list, behind Mo Farah, Emile Cairess, Mahamed Mahamed and Steve Jones.
“I feel like it’s a nice period in my career where I’ve come off going to the Paris Olympics, and that was like a massive thing, a massive goal for me,” Sesemann told SportsShoes.com. “Now the next stage of my career, I feel like I can take bigger risks and I can really push things as hard as I can and really try and see what level I can reach in running.
“It’s exciting to do that alongside a new brand and definitely a brand that has got really great shoes. Knowing that’s going to really help with my training loads with high quality and lots of intensity, but also in keeping me injury free as well. ASICS will be really helping with that longevity.”
Sesemann also states that two of his biggest aims for the 2025 season are to better his marathon personal best and qualify for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The Brit made his debut over 26.2 miles at the 2021 London Marathon, placing seventh with 2:12:58 on the streets of the British capital. In the next two editions of the event, he clocked 2:12:10 and 2:10:23 respectively.
Sesemann represented Great Britain over 26.2 miles at the 2022 European Athletics Championships, placing 17th in a time of 2:15:17.
He also boasts personal bests of 13:38 and 28:24 over 5km and 10km.
