Full beam ahead: National Open shines light on our sport as hundreds compete
The 4J National Open returned in spades at the Emirates Arena.
We missed out on national competition at the world class venue in Glasgow last year – but 550 athletes savoured the Emirates experience once again.
Check out our short highlights reel as we take a spin round the event to capture the atmosphere (thanks to great work by our own Morven Bruce).
And, below, watch what we regard as the very first interview with our hugely-popular and respected official photographer – Bobby Gavin.
‘It’s great to be back in here and while I did work at the World Indoors this is my first event here for scottishathletics for two years,’ said Bobby.
‘I have to say: the redeveloped venue is fantastic and the lights have improved dramatically from a few years ago. I saw them last March and was hopefully they would be retained as it helps photography.
‘It was freezing at cross country at Alexandra Park last week so nice to shoot in a T-shirt here. The athletes are back in for every event after being at four venues for indoors last winter. Some of them were pretty cold even though indoors!
‘It’s a really hectic period right now but I love it.’
