McKiver named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the week, SEC Runner of the Week

The redshirt senior opened his 2025 campaign with the fastest 600-yard sprint in world history.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators redshirt senior Jenoah McKiver has received multiple honors for his record-setting season debut in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday. After setting a new world best in the 600-yard, McKiver was selected as both the SEC Men’s Runner of the Week, as well as the USTFCCCA Division I National Athlete of the Week.

McKiver set a world all-time best in the 600 yards of 1:05.75 this past weekend at the Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas. The High Point, North Carolina native closed the last lap in 24.45 and lopped more than one second off the previous world best of 1:06.93 established back in 2020. He topped the previous collegiate best of 1:07.44 set at last season’s Corky Classic.

Following his stellar first race of the season, he returned for Florida’s first of three 4x400m relays, and ran a highly physical 44.98 split in the Gators’ Corky Classic-winning and collegiate-leading 3:02.80 (3:03.24 @) performance. McKiver moved up two positions in his leg to take the win. The time slotted in as the No. 7 time in UF program history.

This honor marks the seventh time in program history – and first time since 2019 – that a male athlete from Florida has been named Men’s National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. McKiver joins four-time honoree and 2019 The Bowerman winner Grant Holloway, 2018 honoree Benjamin Lobo Vedel and 2015 honoree Najee Glass in that regard.

The last Gator to win SEC Runner of the Week was Robert Gregory, who also won for his efforts in the Gators’ first meet of the season on January 13, 2024.
