Virginia Tech’s Julia Fixsen and California’s Giavonna Meeks split the ACC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors after both student-athletes posted an NCAA-leading mark. Fixsen set a new personal-best in the pole vault, jumping 4.58 meters (15-0.25) on Saturday, January 25, to reclaim her place atop the NCAA leaderboard. After her incredible weight throw performance, the Denver, Colorado, native also posted Cal’s fifth-best shot put mark in program history at 15.22 meters (49-11.25), which ranks eighth in the ACC this season.

North Carolina’s Tommy Kitchell has been named the ACC Indoor Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after another strong showing in the shot put. Kitchell continues to climb the Tar Heels’ record books and ranks second nationally in the event with a mark of 19.69 meters (64-7.25). His ACC-leading mark also moved him into second place in North Carolina history.
