UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – Chioma Njoku took second place in the weight throw and Isabella Castillo and Kami Joi Hickson each posted all-time top-10 performances for Maryland in day one of the Penn State National Open. The action at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track will resume on Saturday at 10 AM.
Njoku was the highest finisher for the Terps taking second in the weight throw with a mark of 20.39 meters. She was the top collegiate finisher behind World Champion and Olympian Brooke Andersen.
Hickson turned in the second-fastest 800-meter performance in program history as she took ninth overall with a time of 2-minutes, 7.63 seconds.
Castillo also finished among the program’s all-time top-10 as she had the ninth fastest performance in the 60-meter hurdles (8.56 seconds). Castillo also placed 24th in the 60 meters on Friday.
The Penn State National Open will resume action on Saturday morning at 10 AM. The meet will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus.
