Badgers close weekend with records

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team wrapped up an action-filled weekend across three different meets this Saturday, running personal bests and school records.

Over in the Hoosier State, several Badgers made their mark at the Meyo Invite, highlighted by junior Jalen Williams’ dominant win in the 400 meters. The Washington, D.C. native clocked 46.19, setting a new school record and ranking third in Division I this season.

Soon after in the 800 meters, Patrick Hilby crossed the line in 1:48.59, earning a top-10 mark in UW history. This is the freshman’s second top-10 time this season as he also ranks in the top-10 in school history in the 600 meters.

The 3000 meters featured a deep Wisconsin lineup featuring three members of the 2024 cross country national podium finishing team. Matan Ivri led the way, finishing fifth with a time of 7:52.28, which ranks in the top-25 in the country.  Two other Badgers finished top 10 with personal records as Johnny Livingstone took seventh in 7:57.01 with Christian de Vaal was right behind him in eighth with a time of 7:57.60.

To round out the Badgers’ night in Notre Dame, the 4×400 meter relay of Jalen Williams,  Hilby, Andrew Casey and JJ Williams took fourth in 3:16.65.

In the top heat at the BU Terrier Invite in Boston, Bob Liking stopped the clock in 13 minutes, 23.29 seconds to finish 15th in a competitive section.  Liking’s time was a second off of his school record of 13:22.80 set back in December of 2024.

Down south, hurdler Giovanni Wearing delivered a strong performance, running 7.74 in the 60-meter hurdles final to place third. His mark ranks third in the Big Ten Conference.
