ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. and SEATTLE – The California track & field team finished its third weekend of competition in fine fashion, combining for five program top-10 times Saturday at the New Mexico Team Open and the UW Invitational.
 
Junior Johnny Goode once again lit up the Albuquerque Convention Center by posting his second school record of the weekend, an ACC-leading 400m time of 45.96, which clinched his third-straight week re-setting Cal’s top all-time mark. Senior Isaiah Shaw also performed well in the race, recording a time of 46.97 to improve his own program No. 4 entry. In the 60m invitational, senior David Foster earned another title with a time of 6.57, while sophomore Javon Hampton Jr. took third in the unseeded race with a PR of 6.92; he was followed closely by classmate Chukwunonso Udeh (6.92) and Jason Plumb (6.94), who each set personal bests of their own. Freshman Kosi Nwafor, making his collegiate debut, took third place in the triple jump with the best performance by a Cal man this season at 15.12m (49-7.25).
 
On the women’s side, sophomore Mari Testa posted another PR in the 60m hurdles, racing to a time of 8.39 in the preliminary heats to move into a tie with teammate Asjah Atkinson for sixth-fastest in school history; she later took seventh place in the final at 8.48. In the 800m, junior Jayden Hill likewise notched another career best with a time of 2:10.44, ninth-fastest on Cal’s all-time list, while freshman Paige Porter earned her second collegiate PR of the weekend in the 60m unseeded race, finishing second in 7.68.
 
Cal also acquitted itself well at the Dempsey in Seattle as redshirt senior Garrett MacQuiddy won his mile heat with a time of 4:00.91 and sophomore Justin Pretre earned a time of 4:02.30 – 15 seconds faster than his lifetime best and good for eighth-fastest in school history. Redshirt sophomore Rowan FitzGerald posted his own PR of 4:11.55 in the race, over 16 seconds better than his previous collegiate time. The men’s 800m featured redshirt senior Iyan Godwin (1:41.49) and sophomore Lamarr Kirk Jr. (1:53.82), each of whom bettered their own…
