We are back to requesting your help in voting for the HOKA Athletes of the Week #7 Nominees in girls and boys track & field categories. So help us in recognizing our nominees for the top girls’ and boys track & field athletes from recent performances. In addition to the recognition each weekly award recipient will receive a commemorative t-shirt in appreciation of their performance.

We need your help in completing a quick poll of our picks of Girls and Boys nominees listed below in alphabetical order before 3:30 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

Girls HOKA AoW #7 Nominees

Track:

Samiya Eady, Manchester, sprinted to a CT #2 in 55m 7:12 and CT#2 in the 300m in 39.90 to win both at the CCC championship.

Lauren Kropo, Naugatuck, won everything she ran at NVL Championship, 55m in 7.08, 600m in 1:37.96 and 39.79 in 300m, CT#1 in all 3 events.

Tess Sherry, Conard won both of her events at CCC Championship, 1000m 2:57.69 (CT#4) and 3200m 10:58.88 (CT#3).

Field:

Vanessa Agyemang, Bloomfield, CT#1 won the CCC long jump title with 18-5 leap and CT #1 in 55m hurdles.

Lauren Smith, New Canaan, CT #4 in shot put won FCIAC East title and gained 4th in the PV.

Majonia Hart, Naugatuck, NVL Outstanding Field athlete won LJ with PR 16-7.75, 4th in HJ at 4-6.

Boys HOKA AoW #7 Nominees

Track:

Marvin Escalera, Windsor, CCC 55m hurdle champion in 7.45 meet record, CT#1, CT#5 all time. 

William Liebler, Southington, CCC champion in 1600m in CT#4 4:25.55, returned for 2nd in the 3200m in 9:41.20.

Yendri Ruiz, New Britain, 600m CCC champion in CT#2 1:23.15, 5th place in 300m and lead 4x400m to 4th.

Field:

Michael Ahoua, Torrington unleashed CT#1 leap of 23-3.5 to win the NVL title followed by 6-2 leap to win 2nd NVL title.

Chris Amy, NFA, placed 1st in Shot Put with 3rd 63-ft toss of the season at ECC Developmental 5 on Saturday. US#6 and CT#1 with best of 63-3.75 at Yale Invite.

Brodie Scott, Waterford, cleared 6-6.25 at ECC Developmental 5 to tie for CT #1 in high jump.
