CIAC Class M Boys Championship
Top two teams in 2024:Lyman Hall, East Lyme
Projected Top Boys Teams: Lyman Hall, East Lyme, Weston and Daniel Hand
Events to Watch
Lyman Hall has an experienced team back and they have already run 3:22.99 in the 4x400m relay on Yale’s lightning fast banked track. While it would be tough after some of their athletes double and triple, Hillhouse’s meet record of 3:28.29 is within their reach. The Trojans are in the hunt for the team title, so that will make it difficult to stack the relays, but they have run the state leading time of 3:35.21 in the 1600m sprint medley relay on Monday at a Last Chance Qualifying Meet.
At the Yale HS Classic in early January, Weston ran 8:06.59 for the 4x800m. With a little push from East Lyme, this could be a great event with Suffield’s meet record of 8:05.73 up for grabs by either team.
Even an off day should still give East Lyme’s Thomas Matlock the win, but if he is on, he could improve upon his own meet record. The senior has gone over 60 feet five of his seven meets this season and his meet record of 63-0.25 is within his range this year.
The oldest Class M record still part of the meet is held by Eric Callahan of East Lyme who cleared 6-6.75 in 1990. Ethan Rich of Lyman Hall has already jumped 6-6.25 so this is another event that could see a record go down.
