COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland Athletics programs continue to perform at outstanding levels in the classroom as the Spring 2025 academic report was released. Maryland student-athletes combined to record a 3.264 semester grade point average and now has a strong 3.282 departmental cumulative GPA. This marks the 11th semester in a row with a GPA of better than 3.000. The strong academic performance marks the 18th consecutive semester with a better than 3.000 cumulative GPA. A total of 16 Maryland programs have a cumulative GPA of better than a 3.000 and 16 of them had better than a 3.000 for the Spring 2025 semester.
It was a standout semester as 39 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.000 GPA and 162 earned Dean’s List recognition, boasting a 3.500 GPA or better. Overall, 337 student-athletes achieved Athletic Honor Roll status for posting a 3.000 or better GPA.
“The academic achievements of Terrapin student-athletes this spring semester is remarkable”, said Brady Rourke, Director, Gossett Student-Athlete Center. Our GSAC team worked tirelessly to structure academic schedules and resources to ensure student-athletes could maximize their potential in the classroom. Collaboration with academic units and communication with campus colleagues is ever more important given increased athletic travel and our staff is grateful for the support and collaboration of the Athletics Council members and colleagues across campus. GSAC tutorial services and learning support services continue to provide comprehensive support to assist students in balancing athletics competition while earning impressive academic marks; as evidenced by high numbers of Dean’s List and Honor Roll recipients.
Of the 16 programs posting a semester GPA of greater than 3.000, the cross country team posted the highest with a 3.666 GPA. Of the 16 programs with a cumulative GPA of greater than 3.000, the tennis team was also tops with a 3.677 GPA.
Gymnastics had eight team members with a perfect 4.0, the most for any program, followed by six women’s track & field competitors.
