KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The nationally ranked Tennessee track & field program will round out the 2025 outdoor regular season within the confines of the Volunteer State this weekend, playing host to the Big Orange Invite at Tom Black Track while a group of 18 distance runners will travel to Nashville for the Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt. Both meets are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 2-3.
Tennessee’s entries at the Big Orange Invite open competition on Friday at noon with the men’s hammer throw. Day one on Rocky Top will conclude for UT at approximately 4:45 p.m. with the men’s 200-meter dash. Saturday’s competition is slated to begin at noon with the men’s javelin, men’s high jump, women’s triple jump and women’s 100-meter hurdles semifinal. The home meet will wrap up at 3:45 p.m. with the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
Distance racing in Nashville starts Friday night at 7:35 p.m. ET with the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. Tennessee will contest the steeple, 1,500-meter and 5k on Friday, wrapping up at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Saturday’s action in Nashville features six UT athletes running the women’s and men’s 800-meter – scheduled for 6:15 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. ET, respectively.
The 2025 Big Orange Invite and Music City Challenge will not be streamed. Live results from Knoxville will be provided by AdkinsTrak Timing Associates, while live results from Nashville will be provided by PrimeTime Timing.
SENIOR DAY: Tennessee track & field will honor 21 members of its senior class on Saturday with a ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. The group includes: Canaan Anderson, Layla Anderson, Msgana Araya, Myreanna Bebe, Aaron Bell, Will Cahill, Ellison Colarossi, Deron Dudley, Patrick Fehm, Milan Fields, Yonas Haile, Zach Jaeger, Aaron Jones, Jonah Ross, Sarah Schmitt, Kiara Smith, Rachel Sutliff, Callie Tucker, Calvin Wetzel, Brianna White and Jevon Williams.
RANKINGS UPDATE: In the latest installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national track & field rating index, the Vols checked in at No. 3 in the nation while the Lady Vols were slotted 24th.
Additionally, Tennessee athletes have set 11 marks that currently rank top-10 on the NCAA Division I list for the 2025 outdoor season.
