The following runners have been recognized as ACC Cross Country Performers of the week following their standout performances last weekend.
ACC Men’s Co-Performer of the Week – Parker Wolfe, North Carolina
Wolfe led the way with a sixth-place finish as the Tar Heel men were 14th in a top-notch field at the prestigious Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday in Madison, Wisconsin. Wolfe took sixth in the 8K championship race in a time of 23:17.9. The 33-team men’s field included 22 teams that finished in the top 31 at the 2021 NCAA Championships. Wolfe was the top individual ACC finisher in a field that also included runners from Notre Dame, NC State, Syracuse, Duke and Florida State.
Wolfe also was named ACC Performer of the Week two weeks ago on Oct. 4 after setting a new course record and winning the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
ACC Men’s Co-Performer of the Week – Zach Facioni, Wake Forest
Facioni led the Wake Forest men’s cross country team to a first-place finish at the Panorama Farms XC 23 Invitational to conclude the Demon Deacons’ 2022 regular season slate. A product of Sydney, Australia, and a two-time All-American, Facioni paced the Deacs in the field that featured four ranked teams, finishing second overall with a season’s best time of 23:11.5.
ACC’s Women’s Performer of the Week – Katelyn Tuohy, N.C. State
Tuohy won the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational 6K race with a time of 19.44.3, placing a shade more than five seconds ahead of teammate Kelsey Chmiel for a 1-2 NC State team finish. Their efforts helped the top-ranked Wolfpack finish in a first-place tie with second-ranked New Mexico, and NC State was awarded the title via the tie-breaker. Tuohy was also named the USTFCCCA National Female Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
With the regular season now complete, the Tar Heels will return to action on Friday Oct. 28 at the ACC Championship in Earlysville, Va., hosted by the University of Virginia.
