NEW ORLEANS, La. — Tom Brady, Nick Foster, Arjun Jha and Zach Stewart of the University of Michigan men’s cross country team earned U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I All-Academic honors, the association announced on Thursday (Jan. 26). The Wolverines were also honored as a team for the 11th time in the last 12 years
Brady, a senior studying computer science engineering, was Michigan’s top finisher at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships with a 60th-place effort. He was third in the Great Lakes Regional and fourth at the Big Ten Championships, and earned the award for the second straight year.
Foster, a senior studying economics earned the award for the first time. He was the Wolverines’ third finisher at the Big Ten Championships and Great Lakes Regional meets in 12th and 16th, respectively.
Jha, a graduate student pursuing a masters in physiology earned the award for the fourth time, but first as a Wolverine. He was a top-four finisher for the Wolverines in the postseason, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional.
Stewart, a junior studying sport management earned the honor for the first time. He was the Wolverines’ second finisher at the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Championships in eighth and 153rd, respectively.
All four earned this distinction by virtue of carrying a cumulative grade-point average greater than 3.25 and finishing with All-Region honors at the 2021 Great Lakes Regional cross country meet.
Brady, Foster, Jha and Stewart were among 124 male student-athletes from NCAA Division I institutions across the country recognized with this award.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country team, it must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better and have started at least five runners at its respective NCAA regional championship.
The Wolverines, led by head coach Kevin Sullivan, met that standard for the ninth year in a row.
