JACKSONVILLE, FLA.–Tar Heel women took center stage on the fourth and final day of the 2023 NCAA East First Round, hosted by North Florida. After the east regional men’s teams concluded their competition on Friday, the women did the same on Saturday.
The Tar Heels will send a combined seven competitors to Austin, Texas, June 7-10:
Ethan Strand (men’s 1,500m)
Jesse Hunt (men’s 1,500m)
Marshall Williamson (men’s 3,000m Steeplechase)
Craig Saddler II (men’s 400m hurdles)
Parker Wolfe (men’s 5,000m)
James Joycey (men’s hammer throw)
Madison Wiltrout (women’s javelin)
On Saturday in Jacksonville:
• JoEllen Driscoll finished 26th in the discus with an effort of 49.19m (161-4)
• Carlee Hansen took 19th place in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:20.45
• Sasha Neglia finished 16th in the 3k Steeplechase in a time of 10:11.41
• Freshman Eva Klingbeil finished 38th in the 5,000m in 16:37.01
