DURHAM – Duke track and field looks to close out the indoor regular season on a high note, with the Blue Devils featuring a split squad for the second consecutive weekend.
Paige Sommers is set to represent Duke at the Virginia Tech Challenge (Feb. 16-17, Blacksburg, Va.) as she gears up to take part in the women’s pole vault (4:30 p.m.). Up in Boston, eight members of the Blue Devils’ distance crew are slated to compete in the men’s (8:10 p.m.) and women’s (8:30 p.m.) distance medley relay at the BU Terrier DMR Challenge (Feb. 17). On the men’s side, the Duke DMR crew consists of Beck Wittstadt, Alejandro Rodriguez, Owen Drometer and Austin Gabay while Julia Fenerty, Julia Jackson, Lauren Tolbert and Amina Maatoug comprise the quartet for the Blue Devil women.

LAST TIME OUT
- It was another successful day of competition for the Duke track and field team on Friday as the Blue Devils shattered three program records across the Tiger Paw Invitational and the BU Valentine Invitational.
- For the second consecutive weekend, Duke saw both its men’s and women’s weight throw records unseated – this time via the performances of graduate student Christian Johnson and senior Moorea Mitchell. Amina Maatoug brought the record-breaking party over to Boston as the junior took down her own school record in the women’s mile run.
- The Blue Devils notched three additional top-five program marks on the day – two in the men’s and women’s weight throw, respectively, and one in the women’s 400m.
- Duke track and field pushed its record-breaking total to six for the weekend as the Blue Devils closed out two days of indoor competition at the Tiger Paw Invitational and BU Valentine Invitational unseating program records in the women’s shot put (MaKayla Mason), men’s 200m (Ezra Mellinger) and men’s 3,000m (Austin Gabay).
