Miami Men’s Team Finishes Fifth, Women’s Team Sixth at ACC Outdoor Championships – University of Miami Athletics

ATLANTA, Ga. — The University of Miami track and field team finished the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships in Atlanta, Georgia Saturday evening.

At the end of the three day competition, the men’s team scored a school record 83 points, placing fifth overall. The Miami women’s team tallied 66 team points, good for sixth place.

On day three, Milton Ingraham II was named conference champion in signature event, the men’s discus. Ingraham II’s 61.32m (201 feet, 2 inches) toss earned the men’s team ten team points.

Senior jumper Russell Robinson claimed the silver medal in the men’s triple jump competition, jumping a season best 16.61m (54 feet, 6 inches) to give the men’s team eight more points.

Graduate student Christina Warren jumped a season best 13.11m (43 feet, 0.25 inches) to bring the Hurricanes another bronze medal in the women’s triple jump, good for six women’s team points.

Sprinter Makenzy Pierre-Webster clocked a personal best 52.22 in the women’s 400m to earn the silver medal and eight women’s team points. Pierre-Webster, almost an hour and a half later, ran 23.16 in the 200m to secure the bronze medal and six more team points.

The first event Saturday, the men’s high jump, was filled with Miami point scorers. Kennedy Sauder took home the bronze medal with a final heigh of 2.17m (7 feet 1.5 inches). Aaron Kim and Jeremy Cody ended their high jump competition with a height of 2.06m (6 feet, 9 inches). Kim notched two points while Cody contributed one point the men’s team total.

In the men’s 400m final, Senior sprinter Solomon Strader ran a new personal best 45.64, good for third. Freshman Ace Malone also earned himself a new personal best of 46.08 for the third-fastest time in outdoor school history. Strader and Malone contributed a combined ten points towards the men’s team total. 

Distance runner Daphnee Lavassas improved on her 5000m school record as the Miami, Florida native ran 15:59.67 to finish sixth overall and deliver the women’s team three more points.

The men’s 4x400m relay team comprised of Ace Malone, Solomon Strader, Jalen Gordon, and Robert Joseph, clocked 3:04.65 for a third-place finish, school record, and six team points.

The women’s 4x400m relay team also finished third to end the competition. Kennedy Brace, Makenzy Pierre-Webster, Alyssa Robinson, and Gabriella Grissom ended with a time of 3:32.27, notching six team points.
