Record 22 To Represent Track and Field At NCAA East First Round


PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers track and field qualified a record number for the 2024 NCAA East First Round, sending 22 Scarlet Knights to the UK Track & Field Facility in Lexington, Kentucky from Wednesday, May 22 through Saturday, May 25.
 
The Scarlet Knights set the previous record in 2022 with 19 qualifiers and matched that count with another 19 at the 2023 NCAA preliminary round. For the 2024 regionals, the squad is split even with 11 on the women’s side and 11 on the men’s side.

Qualifiers out of these East First Round will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon.
 
Rutgers is coming off a record setting performance at the 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Championships in which the Scarlet Knights achieved its highest finish on the women’s side (eighth) and matched the best men’s finish (ninth). The 23 podium finishes were the most at the outdoor meet, eclipsing the previous record of 19 set in 2023.
 
Freshman Bryce Tucker delivered a gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles, highlighting six medal finishes for the Scarlet Knights. Sincere Robinson added bronze in the long jump, while Brian O’Sullivan finished third in the pole vault and Konstantinos Bouzakis finished third in discus. Chloe Timberg and Alex Carlson earned silver medals in the pole vault and 1,500-meter, respectively, to lead the women’s squad.
 
The Scarlet Knights set six outdoor school records in 2024 with Carlson establishing the top times in the 1,500 and 5,000-meter, Timberg in the pole vault, Brian O’Sullivan in the pole vault, Alicia Campbell in the hammer and Alianna Eucker in the javelin.
