After an excellent fourth place finish in the first match of the National Athletics League Premier Division, Glasgow Jaguars head to Ashton Playing fields for Sunday’s match with fingers crossed for some sunshine and favourable winds.
Tantalisingly close to the UKA World Junior standard of 20.85 with a PB in the 200m in Match 1 in unfavourable conditions, Dean Patterson will have an eye on the weather and the clock.
Struan Linton, who made his debut for Scotland in Geneva in the sprint relay goes in the 200B event, hoping to improve further on his PB set this season and is also in the 100m B.
Lucy Fraser, who has swapped the sunny climes of Spain for a so far dreary British summer, makes her debut in the sprints, having been in PB form in Spain and is joined by Charlotte Bevan(sprints) another sprinter in PB form this summer.
Calum McKenzie, who was in sparkling form in Eton with a big 400m PB will be looking to build further on that while Kathryn Christie, who recently recorded a swift 24.27 200m and Kelsey Stewart form a strong pairing in the 400m.
The men’s hurdlers have been in tremendous form this season with Bradley Francis and Ben Heron (400MH) both recording recent PBs while 110m hurdlers Scott Connal and Euan Wallace have also been in PB shape.
Ross O’Brien takes on the 800m and 1500m, having recorded PBs over both distances this season and he is joined by newcomer Patrick Barnes.
Fresh from his gold medal winning performance in the Virtus European Athletics Championships Sam Fernando goes in the 2k steeplechase event.
Beth Ansell was close to her SB in the British Championships and is joined in the 800m by Caitlin Purcell, making her debut in the team.
Carolyn Cameron will be looking to further improve her 1500m PB set in Eton and doubles up in the 3000m.
Joining her in the 1500m is newcomer to the team Kirsty Purcell while Margot Wyroll, who has run very close to her lifetime best in the 1500m outdoors this season goes in the 3K.
The strong pairing of Lauren Stoddart and Alicia Paton, with a new PB this season over the 2K steeplecashse will look to bring maximum points for the team.
Andrew Peck, winner of the discus at Eton will be hoping for victory again and he is joined by Logan Mitchell making his debut for the team in both the Discus and Hammer events. He is joined in the Hammer by James Hayward, buoyed by a recent PB.
