The fifth meeting of the North East series saw Adrian Bailes squeeze home ahead in the 1500m in 3:57.1 and it was just close for Ben Schofield with his 48.85 400m win.
Philippa Stone, the England Athletics silver medallist, had it easier in the women’s 1500 metres when clocking 4:21.9.
