TEMPE, Ariz. — The legend of Judy Chepkoech grows.
For the second time within the month, the true freshman Chepkoech has been named the Big 12 Conference Cross Country Women’s Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. She earned the honors after a phenomenal showing at the UC Riverside Invite, where she won the Women’s 6k race in 19:31.7, more than 25 seconds faster than runner-up Jessica Kampman (Azusa Pacific/19:56.8).
She paced the field at both the 2k and 4k marks, cruising to the finish line for her second Sun Devil win in as many meets to open her collegiate career. She is both the first Sun Devil and the first in the conference to earn multiple weekly conference honors this season.
