Pepsi

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s women’s cross country team hits the road to run in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday, September 27. The 6K race is set to take place at 1:20 p.m. on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.

PENN STATE OUTLOOK

In the most recent USTFCCCA polls, Penn State’s women’s cross country team ranks No. 29 in the country and No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic Region heading into the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.

The 29th-ranked Penn State women’s team won the Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park on September 13, its last time out. Three Nittany Lions finished inside the top ten overall at the Spiked Shoe, as Penn State took down multiple regional foes in Happy Valley. Florence Caron finished second overall with a 20:03.9 time, which is the ninth-fastest ever run on Penn State’s home course. The Nittany Lions were the only team at the Spiked Shoe to feature three runners in the top ten. Joining Caron on that list was Sophia Toti (20:35.5) and Maddie Ullom (20:39.1) who finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

Penn State aims to build on its success as it heads into competition on Friday in Wisconsin. Running against multiple nationally-ranked opponents will test the Nittany Lion women, who are primed for a strong postseason run this year.

THE NUTTYCOMBE WISCONSIN INVITATIONAL

One of the nation’s premier collegiate cross country meets, the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational has been hosted for over 15 years. With representation from each of the nine regions, the Nuttycombe Invitational boasts one of the top cross country fields during the regular season. Teams who are competing in this year’s meet will get a chance to preview the Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course before they potentially return to Madison for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which are set to take place in Wisconsin in November.
