Lady Vols Finish 25th at Wisconsin Pre-Nationals


MADISON, Wis. – The Lady Vol cross country team returned to the grass Saturday morning in Madison, Wisconsin, competing at Pre-Nationals and getting a test run on the Zimmer Championship Course that will serve as the host site for the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Tennessee finished 25th in a strong field that featured 19 ranked squads.
 
Lady Vol senior Ashley Jones led the Big Orange in the women’s 6k “A” race, crossing the finish line 36th with a time of 20:06.2. Sophomore Jillian Candelino was the second Lady Vol in with a time of 20:33.4 to place 89th, while Jaci Sievers (20:56.9, 137th), Msgana Araya (21:03.6, 157th) and Andie-Marie Jones (21:06.7, 162nd) rounded out Tennessee’s top five.
 
Saturday wrapped up a busy weekend for the Tennessee cross country program as the Vols and Lady Vols had 17 runners in action on Friday at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The men earned a third-place team finish, while the women placed seventh.
 
UP NEXT
The men and women of Tennessee will have a week of training before traveling to Bryan-College Station, Texas, for the 2024 SEC Cross Country Championships. The conference meet is set for Friday, Nov. 1.
