CLEMSON, S.C. – After opening up the indoor season with their impressive performances at the Clemson Opener this past Friday, three Tigers have earned ACC Performer of the Week awards as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Week – Aleksandra Stoilova
At the Clemson Opener, Aleksandra Stoilova shined as she picked up two individual first-place finishes as she earned first in the women’s 200 meters (23.29) and tied for first in the prelims of the women’s 60 meters (7.32). Stoilova also ran a leg of the 4×400 for the Clemson B team.
The sophomore added her name to Clemson’s Top 10 list in the 200 meters as she is now tied for seventh all-time with her time of 23.29. Stoilova is also ranked No. 1 nationally in the 200 with that time.
ACC Women’s Freshman Performer of the Week – Aniyah Kitt
After competing in her very first meet for Clemson, freshman Aniyah Kitt impressed as she set the new program record in the women’s 300 meters with an incredible time of 37.39.
Kitt also tied for first in the prelims of the 60 meters alongside Stoilova with a time of 7.32.
ACC Men’s Freshman Performer of the Week – Jordan Sowell
In his first meet as a Tiger, freshman Jordan Sowell shined as he competed in the men’s triple jump and the men’s 300 meters. In the triple jump, Sowell finished seventh overall with a mark of 14.84m which currently ranks him No. 18 in the nation and tied for second in the ACC.
Sowell ran the 300 meters and finished with a time of 35.28.
The Tigers are back in action on January 11 as they host the Clemson Invitational at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex.
