World record holder Beatrice Chepkoech claimed the gold medal which evaded her in London, finishing in a new Championship record of 8:57.84. Gold medallist from London, USA’s Emma Coburn, earned silver this year in a personal best 9:02.35, with German Gesa Krause winning bronze in a new German national record of 9:03.30.
