Two Qualify for National Championships on Day One of NCAA Regionals – Ohio State Buckeyes

RESULTS

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team began competition at NCAA regionals on Wednesday with men’s events. Two Buckeyes qualified for the national championships, while five others advance to Friday’s quarterfinals.

NATIONAL QUALIFIERS

  • Robby Oswald was the first to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon by clearing 5.29m in the pole vault competition to finish third.
  • Hayden Tobias qualified for the national championships in the shot put with a best throw of 19.31m, finishing sixth overall.

QUARTERFINAL QUALIFIERS

  • Eric Harrison won his heat in the 200m with a personal-best 20.24, which was third overall.
  • Harrison matched his career-best in the 100m (10.17), qualifying for Friday’s quarterfinals. Harrison’s time was fourth in his heat and the fastest among non-automatic qualifiers.
  • In the 110m hurdles, Kentre Patterson finished second in his heat (13.67) and Oscar Smith finished third in his heat (13.76), both automatically qualifying for the next round.
  • The Buckeyes also had two qualify for the quarterfinals of the 400m. Tyler Johnson finished second in his heat (46.59) and Zidane Brown was third in his heat (46.68), both grabbing automatic qualifying spots.

UP NEXT

The Buckeye women begin competition at NCAA regionals on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., while the men’s competition resumes on Friday at 1 p.m.
