Anderson Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES – Senior Shae Anderson of the women’s track & field team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, earning honors for June 7-12.

Anderson raced in two finals at the NCAA Championships and earned three All-America honors. She finished sixth in the 400m final to score three points for the Bruins. Her qualifying time of 50.94 in the semifinals was a season-high and the second-fastest time of her career. She also participated in both relays, running the second leg in the 4x400m relay and helping the Bruins finish seventh overall with a season-best time of 3:28.71, which ranks sixth in UCLA history. In the 4x100m relay semifinals, she and Catherine Leger, Makenzy Pierre-Webster and Maddy Doane set a new school record with a time of 43.39, besting the time of 43.43 set in 2004 by Sani Roseby, Sheena Johnson, Dawn Harper and Monique Henderson.

This is the first Student-Athlete of the Week award for Anderson this season and second in her career.
