MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota graduate Abby Kohut-Jackson, of Huxley, Iowa, has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in recognition of her accomplishments in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and community service.

A member of the Gophers track and field and cross country program from 2017-22, Kohut-Jackson was one of 21 female spring sport athletes nationwide to receive this $10,000 scholarship. The NCAA awards up to 126 postgraduate scholarships annually.  The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.

Kohut-Jackson recently completed her Masters degree in Biological Sciences from the ‘U’ and is planning on attending medical school. Athletically, Kohut-Jackson is one of the best to come through the Gophers’ program. She’s an All-American in both Cross Country and Track and Field. She earned her first All-American honor in Cross Country this past season by finishing 39th overall and helped the program to its two best finishes in the NCAA Championships with a fifth and seventh-place finish. She earned All-American status in track and field in 2021 in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing 11th overall. She holds three school records at the ‘U’ including the indoor mile that she broke this past season and the outdoor steeplechase record from 2021 along with a spot on the school record distance medley relay team from 2021.

Off the track Kohut-Jackson was a captain from 2019-22 between the track and cross country programs. She’s a nine-time Academic All-Big Ten selection as well as an eight-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
