• The ACC continues to lead all conferences with five teams ranked nationally in the USTFCCCA Men’s Coaches Poll, and boasts a nation’s-best three teams among the top 10 for the first time this season. Wake Forest still leads all conference teams at the No. 7 spot, while Syracuse inched up to No. 9 and North Carolina is at No. 10.

• The USTFCCCA men’s top-30 poll also features No. 13 Notre Dame and No. 19 as the ACC maintains five teams among the top 20.

• The ACC also shares the national lead with five nationally ranked women’s teams. Reigning national champion NC State continues to hold the No. 1 position in the USTFCCCA poll and is joined by No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 11 North Carolina,  No. 15 Syracuse and No. 24 Florida State.

• The Wolfpack has been the unanimous No. 1 team in the USTFCCCA women’s poll throughout the season.

• Miami sophomore Daphnee Lavassas made a bit of history on Monday when she became the first Miami cross country runner to earn National Athlete of the Week honors from the USTFCCCA. Lavassas joined North Caroina’s Brynn Brown (Sept. 19) and NC State’s Katelyn Tuohy (Oct. 3) as ACC student-athletes earning national honors this season. Lavassas ran to victory last weekend in Tallahassee, covering the 5k course in 17:10.9, 5.7 seconds faster than runner-up Michaela Rose of LSU.It has been a strong start to the season for Lavassas, who finished fourth at the Virginia Invitational and then took 30th in a strong field at the Roy Griak Invitational two weeks ago.

• Most ACC teams are set for their final big tests of the regular weekend. Friday’s slate includes the prestigious Nuttycombe Invitational at Madison, Wisconsin (Duke, Florida State, North Carolina, NC State, and Notre Dame) and the Pre-Nationals hosted by Penn State (Georgia Tech and Syracuse). A little more than two weeks remain until UVA plays host to the 2022 ACC Cross Country Championships, which are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28, at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Virginia.
