Blue Devils Head to Blacksburg for Hokie Invitational


 
DURHAM – Duke track and field continues indoor season competition with a trip to Blacksburg, Va., this weekend for the Hokie Invitational, slated for Jan. 20-21 at Rector Fieldhouse.
 
 
MEET INFORMATION/WHAT TO KNOW

  • Along with Duke, the meet field features athletes from Charlotte, Cornell, East Carolina, Georgetown, NC State, Northeastern, Penn State, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, VMI (men only) and host Virginia Tech.
  • On Friday, the Blue Devils open at 10:30 a.m., as five athletes gear up to compete across the men’s heptathlon (first half) and women’s pentathlon.
  • Duke field events commence at 4 p.m., with the women’s seeded pole vault. The Blue Devils will also have athletes taking part in the women’s long jump (5 p.m.), men’s weight throw (5 p.m.), men’s long jump (7 p.m.) and women’s weight throw (7 p.m.).
  • On the track, the women’s (5 p.m.) and men’s (5:20 p.m.) mile run gets things going. Duke also features entries in the women’s 60m hurdles (5:45 p.m.), women’s (6:15 p.m.) and men’s (6:25 p.m.) 60m dash, women’s (6:45 p.m.) and men’s (7 p.m.) 1,000m run.
  • Friday wraps up with the women’s (7:45 p.m.) and men’s (7:55 p.m.) 600m run, women’s (8:10 p.m.) and men’s (8:25 p.m.) 3,000m run and women’s (8:55 p.m.) and men’s (9:10 p.m.) 300m.
  • On Saturday, the last three events of the heptathlon will take place beginning with the 60m hurdles at 10:30 a.m.
  • The women’s high jump kicks off the field events at noon, to be followed by the men’s high jump (2:30 p.m.), women’s shot put, men’s triple jump and men’s pole vault – the latter three all slated to begin at 3 p.m.
  • Day two will see the Duke track events open at 2:00 and 2:15 p.m., respectively, with the women’s and men’s DMR. Following those events are the women’s (2:30 p.m.) and men’s (2:45 p.m.) 400m, women’s (3:05 p.m.) and men’s (3:15 p.m.) 800m, women’s (3:35 p.m.) and men’s (3:55 p.m.) 200m dash and the men’s 5,000m run at 4:15 p.m.
  • The Blue Devils close the meet with the women’s 4x400m relay set for a 4:40 p.m., start.
