Alabama Travels to Clemson for Bob Pollock Invitational


CLEMSON, S.C. – The Alabama track and field teams head to the east coast as the indoor season continues in Clemson, S.C., for the Bob Pollock Invitational. The women’s program enters the meet currently ranked No. 4 in the nation.

The Crimson Tide opens the two-day competition inside the Rock Norman Track and Field Complex with the women’s 60-meter preliminaries leading off at 12:10 p.m. CT on Friday morning.

The Meet

  • Alabama will begin in the 60-meter preliminaries with the women starting at 12:10 p.m. CT, followed by the men at 12:35 p.m. CT
  • The women are traveling 22 to Clemson, while the men’s travel list is 44 strong
  • The Crimson Tide will be one of three Southeastern Conference teams competing at the meet (Mississippi State, Tennessee)
  • In addition, Alabama will also face host Clemson, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Elon, FIU, Furman, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, High Point, Kennesaw State, Liberty, NC State, Rutgers, Southern Wesleyan and Wake Forest.

Last Time Out

  • The Crimson Tide broke nine Samford Invitational meet records and tallied 29 top-five finishes across 17 different events. The women’s program won nine different events while the men secured a total of six event titles
  • On the women’s side, Amari Brown’s 60-meter run of 7.33 not only broke the meet record, but also moved her into eighth all-time in the women’s program. Brown also won the 200-meter final (23.69), breaking her second meet record of the day
  • Chelsea Igberaese (70-5), Taylor Gorum (64-11) and Samantha Kunza (62-8) recorded a one-two-three finish in the women’s weight throw
  • Corde Long (7.94), Chris Robinson (8.06) and Patrick Daves (8.26) all took home top-five finishes in the men’s 60-meter hurdles
  • Bobby Colantonio Jr. (74-11.750 and Ruben Banks (68-11.25) went one-two in the men’s weight throw
  • Both men’s and women’s 4×400-meter relay squads broke their respective meet records en route to the victories

  • Alabama will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, competing at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, held in Boston, Mass.
