Tennessee Cross Country Collects USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Thursday afternoon that the Tennessee men’s and women’s cross country squads were recognized as All-Academic Teams, while six UT student-athletes were honored as All-Academic Athletes for their combined performances on the course and in the classroom.

USTFCCCA All-Academic Team awards were presented to cross country programs that boasted a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or above at the end of the 2022 fall semester. The Tennessee women boasted a combined GPA of 3.66, while the men posted a 3.41.

It marks the seventh consecutive season that both squads received the honor.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.

Kayla Gholar and Rachel Sutliff represented the Lady Vols as All-Academic athletes, while four men claimed the honors for the Big Orange: Dylan Jacobs, Nate Kawalec, Jacob Lewis and Eli Nahom. Tennessee’s six total honorees tied for the second most of any team in the SEC and were the most for the program in a single year since at least 2006.
