Bears Split For Double-Meet Weekend

BERKELEY – California track & field will end the month of March with a bang this weekend, bringing the Blue and Gold to two major meets against some of the best competition in the country. The Golden Bears will send a contingent to the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist in Austin from Thursday-Saturday, the first time that they have done so since 2015, and another group to the Stanford Invitational from Friday-Saturday.

Cal’s men were ranked third in the nation by the Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) on Monday, while the women stand at No. 17. It is the first time that either Cal squad has cracked the top 10. Nineteen athletes who have set program top 10s in their careers will be competing this weekend; 10 of those marks were set within the past two weeks alone.

Earlier today, the Pac-12 Conference awarded the Bears their second weekly award of the season, naming sophomore Tyler Burns the Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week just seven days after awarding senior Amari Turner its Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Both Burns and Turner rank among Division I’s top-five pole vaulters this season in addition to each owning top three spots in the program record books.
