Sadie Engelhardt knows the results of the 55th Arcadia Invitational could certainly alter the landscape of girls high school distance running this season, including her own performance April 8 at Arcadia High.

But the sophomore from Ventura High in California can celebrate starting the month of April as the national prep leader in four events, the most recent addition to her resume coming Saturday in the gold section of the girls 800 meters at the West Coast Relays at Buchanan High’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Engelhardt clocked 2 minutes, 6.71 seconds, just off her personal-best 2:05.66 from the same meet last year, supporting her 4:39.11 in the 1,600, 4:41.06 in the mile and 9:51.49 in the 3,200 in the past month.

Engelhardt was also one of three California athletes to produce a state-leading performance, along with Buchanan senior Hilton Green and Clovis North senior Nick Miller.

Green cleared 16 feet, 6 inches (5.03m) in the gold section of the boys pole vault and Miller ran an all-conditions top mark with his wind-aided 10.38 effort in the gold section of the boys 100-meter dash. Augustus Remlinger of Buchanan placed second in 10.49.

Campolindo senior Mari Testa, Fresno Bullard senior Kyle Hughes and Redondo Union senior Kai Deines each won a pair of individual events, with Bakersfield Liberty senior Ethan Mahanke, Pittsburg senior Keynan Higgins and Buchanan senior Grace Hutchison all earning an individual victory and contributing to a relay triumph as well.

Testa prevailed in the gold section of the 100-meter dash in 11.99 seconds and the 100 hurdles in 14.65, with Hughes clocking 14.77 to secure victory in the gold section of the boys 110 hurdles and producing a 23-5 effort (7.13m) to capture the win in the gold long jump.

Deines triumphed in the gold discus throw with a 180-9 (55.10m) and shot put with a 60-3 (18.36m) performance.

Mahanke won the gold 400 in 48.16 and contributed to Liberty prevailing in the gold 4×400 in 3:22.60.

Higgins triumphed in the gold 200 in 21.08, along with the silver 100 in 10.71, in addition to contributing to the gold 4×100 win in 41.92. Miller was second in the gold 200 in 21.14.
